Berhampur: The body of a woman, who went missing after being swept away in a flash flood while crossing a culvert in Odisha’s Ganjam district last evening, was recovered on Thursday.
According to sources, the incident took place near Narigochha village of Brahmanapadar panchayat under Bhanjanagar block on Wednesday. The woman and her husband, identified as Ranjit Nayak of Chingudijhola village, were on their to a nearby place on a bike in the evening when a tide of 2-3 ft swept both of them away. Ranjit luckily held on to a tree branch and was later rescued by Fire Service personnel.
While his wife could not be traced late into the evening, her body was fished out of the canal this morning.
Notably, Ganjam district witnessed heavy rains in the last couple of days.
