New Delhi: Are you someone who loves taking part in social media challenges? What can go wrong by participating in a ‘Couple Challenge’ and posting a cuddly or romantic picture with your partner or spouse?
Well, as Pune Police recently warned – everything. Pune Police posted a tweet from their official account, warning the people posting pictures on various social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook.
The Tweet read, “Think twice before you post a picture with your partner. A ‘cute’ challenge can go wrong if not cautious! #BeAware.” These pictures can be morphed, misused for revenge porn, deep fake and other cybercrimes, the police alerted.
Many people who were harassed after their pictures were misused by miscreants lodged complaints. Some people alleged their pictures were morphed and uploaded on “obscene websites”, the police divulged.
Police Inspector Jayram Paigude of the Cyber police station, in a press briefing, told media persons that people should be cautious while posting personal information on social media.
