Kendrapada: Police on Wednesday arrested Prabhakar Das (24), the supervisor of a courier company in Kendrapada, for allegedly embezzling Rs 7.66 lakh. The money belonged to the courier company he works for.
Police revealed that Prabhakar spent the money to buy gifts for his girlfriend. They have seized gold ornaments, cash worth Rs 40,000, an expensive smartphone, an air cooler, and an almirah.
Earlier, Prabhakar had lodged a police complaint that Rs 7.66 lakh kept in his motorcycle luggage box was stolen while he was going to a bank to deposit the money.
