Koraput: A court has ordered confiscation of the car used by the additional collector of Odisha’s Koraput district and several other articles of the office of the collector over non-payment of medicine bills raised by a supplier.
The court of the Koraput Senior Division Civil Judge has issued a warrant for confiscation of the vehicle and some other articles of the collectorate.
Armed with the warrant, some officials of the court reportedly visited the office of the Koraput district collector on Tuesday and held discussions with the senior yesterday, sources said.
Apart from the car, several other assets including 10 air-conditioners, 10 tables, 10 chairs, some fans and almirahs will also be attached as per the warrant issued by the court.
The order came aa the supplier had moved the court following non-payment of bills raised for medicines which were supplied to the office of the CDPO of Nandapur CDPO way back in 2010, they said.
Though the court had reportedly issued an order in 2018, the CDPO office had allegedly failed to clear the pending amount to Mother Medical Store which had made the supply. The store had supplied medicines worth Rs 2,63, 839 in 2010.
Store owner Harekrushna Mohanty had moved the court seeking direction for payment against the medicine supplied. Subsequently, the court had directed Koraput collector to take steps for payment of a total of Rs 4, 33,774.96 including the case expenses.
