Cuttack: A Special Court, here has issued final order for confiscation of the assets worth over Rs 7 lakh of a doctor in a disproportionate assets case filed by the Vigilance 25 years back.
The Vigilance had registered the DA case against Dr Dhruba Charan Nath, former Medicine Specialist at District Head Quarter Hospital in Baripada of Mayurbhanj in 1996.
Following investigation, the Vigilance had filed the chargesheet in 1999. It had also prayed for confiscation of disproportionate assets of Dr Nath at the Special Court. On October 30, the court issued the final order for confiscation of the doctor’s assets worth Rs 7,55,427.19.
The confiscated properties included immovable assets worth Rs 5,24,111 and movable assets worth Rs 2,31,316.19.
Lambodar Patra, former DSP, Vigilance, Balasore Division investigated the case and Girija Prasad Pattanaik, special public prosecutor, conducted the case on behalf of the Vigilance.
