Court Rejects Odisha MLA Pradeep Panigrahi’s Bail Plea, Sends Him To Jharpada Jail

Bhubaneswar: Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi was sent to Jharpada Jail after the court here rejected his bail application on Thursday night.

After arresting Panigrahi in connection with a case registered with the Cyber Police Station, the Odisha Crime Branch produced him before the Bhubaneswar SDJM Court which rejected his bail plea and remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days.

The MLA will now be housed in the Jharpada Special Jail here.

According to the Crime Branch, Panigrahi was arrested under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 469, 471, 120-B of the IPC and Section 66C/66D of IT Act as there is sufficient prima facie evidence against him in the case.
