Angul: A local court has sentenced two persons for murder of a couple and their minor son in Odisha’s Angul district on Friday.
As per the case, Biranchi Nayak and his wife Tarini of Gamharimaliha village uner Kishorenagar police station of Athmallik tehsil in the district had taken a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh from Maa Maheswari Group in October 2017.
A day after the couple withdrew the entire money, they along with their 4-year-old son were found murdered inside their house. Following investigation into the case, Kishorenagar police arrested Prakash Behera and Nanda Kishore Sethi of the same village and forwarded them to the court.
As per the chargesheet filed by the police, the accused had gone to the couple’s house to steal the loan amount. As Biranchi tried to oppose the duo, the latter allegedly killed him, his wife and their son.
After hearing the case and examining the evidence, produced by the police, additional district sessions court, Athmallik convicted Prakash and Nanda Kishore. The court ordered the convicts to be hanged till death.
