Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court has sentenced two teachers and a peon to rigorous imprisonment for 3 years in a bribe case in Odisha’s Angul district.
As per the case, the Vigilance had arrested Goura Chandra Sahoo, retired headmaster, Pradeep Kumar Pradhan, retired assistant teacher and Dhruba Charana Pradhan, retired peon of Ram Deo High School at Kishoreganj under Boinda block in the district for taking bribe from a complainant to show undue favour to him in Supplementary HSC (High School Certificate) examination and allow malpractice.
After hearing the case, Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul convicted all the three accused and sentenced them to rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 3 years each and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each. In default of payment of fine, they have to undergo further RI for 2 months each more for the offence under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 of PC Act, 1988.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of all the three convicts.
