New Delhi: The government of India has dispatched 11,300 ‘Made in India’ ventilators so far, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan tweeted on Saturday. More than half of these (6,154) have already been delivered to different hospitals.
“Ministry of Health is also supplying 1.02 lakh oxygen cylinders across India; 72,293 delivered,” Dr Vardhan informed, adding that “over 6.12 crore HCQ (Hydroxychloroquine) tablets have been distributed.
The rate at which COVID-19 positive cases are growing in India, demand for ventilators is expected to rise. On Friday, 22,771 coronavirus cases were reported in the country – the highest single-day spike.
India’s overall tally has gone up to 6,48,315, of which there are 2,35,433 active cases and 3,94,227 have been cured/discharged, while 18,655 people have lost their lives.
