Rourkela: A total of 3,800 individuals got vaccinated on the first day of COVID-19 vaccination programme for 18 to 44 age group at Rourkela on Tuesday.
The vaccination drive was conducted at 8 session sites on the day.
A total of 35 healthcare workers, 16 data entry operators and 25 volunteers were engaged in the drive which was a success.
A couple, with a challenged minor daughter, who had booked their session at the Rourkela Government Hospital was all praise for the management.
The child’s mother said, the staff allowed their child inside and ensured that both husband and wife take the shot one after another so that the child can be taken care of.
Sundargarh Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan said 500 slots each in the 8 centres have been opened and requested people to register and come to the centres in their allotted time. The first phase drive is oepn for 6 days.
Kalyan hoped that the drive which has been started on a large scale will help in checking the virus spread and breaking the chain during the lockdown which is effective in the district.
