New Delhi: The central government, while divulging details of the COVID-19 patients in the country, on Monday said that 76 per cent among the infected people are males.
The government also said that among those who have died of the infection, around 73 per cent are also males.
If grouped according to age, then 47 per cent are below the age of 40 year s, 34 per cent are between 40-60 years and 19 per cent are above 60 years.
Lav Agarwal, joint secretary, Health said, “63 per cent deaths have been reported in the people who are 60 years or above and 30 per cent in the people from 40-60 years and 7 per cent death among those who are below 40 years.”
About 80 percent deaths related to COVID-19 were due to co-morbidity like hypertension, diabetes, asthma and other respiratory illnesses.
At present, there are 4,067 confirmed COVID-19 cases in India and 109 people have lost their lives to the infection.
