Bhubaneswar: The city-based AIIMS will provide free ECMO treatment to COVID critical patients belonging to BPL category.
“Critical patients who have ration cards under National Food Security Act will get free ECMO treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar,” Hospital Superintendent Sachidananda Mohanty told the media on Saturday.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar has one ECMO machine and one more machine will be installed soon.
During the pandemic, there is a big necessity for ECMO treatment to save the lives of critical COVID patients, especially those suffering from lung ailment. However, the treatment is expensive and not available in state-run hospitals in Odisha.
