Bhubaneswar: In line with the state government’s guidelines against coronavirus, the Commerce and Transport Department has suspended driving licence (DL) and Learner’s Licence (LL) tests in Odisha from Wednesday till March 31.
The Transport Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda gave the directive in a letter to all Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) on Tuesday.
Panda said that there is a huge rush of people in the Regional Transport Offices in state for obtaining the DL and LL. But as the state government’s health guidelines state that large gatherings need to be avoided to check the spread of this disease, it has been decided to suspend the DL and LL tests from March 18 to 31.
“Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) has become pandemic and the whole world is affected by the deadly virus. There is no specific treatment or vaccine till now for this virus and the only precaution of the highest degree is required to decelerate the spread of COVID-19,” the letter stated.
