Bhubaneswar: In accord with the Odisha government’s guidelines against coronavirus, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ordered that 12 markets/haats in the city will open from 6 am to 6 pm from Thursday till March 31, official sources said on Wednesday.
The Unit-I daily market/haat, Unit-II market, Saheed Nagar daily market, Ruchika daily market, Old Town daily market, Indradhanu daily market (Nayapalli) and Damana haat (Chandrasekharpur) are among the BMC-run markets that will be closed early.
BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary has directed the zonal deputy commissioners to ensure that the standard operating procedure (SOP) communicated earlier for the daily markets/haats must be followed scrupulously.
Besides, he has also directed them to assess the position of other daily/weekly markets/ haats and submit proposals for a similar order.
