Bhubaneswar: To ensure a full-proof measure to contain the spread of  coronavirus, the Odisha government on Monday issued guidelines for community monitoring of quarantined homes.

Briefing mediaperson here in the afternoon, chief spokesperson of the state government on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi said that the district administration will paste stickers outside the houses to restrict the mobility of the residents who are under home quarantine.

He said the stickers will mention the duration of home quarantine along with the details of the house and the family.

“Clear instructions should be given to the community not to visit the quarantined house and no media or press will be allowed near the house and cover any such case. Besides, no one should give personal details of the persons quarantined in the public domain,” he added.

Bagchi further said that the list of the quarantined homes will be shared with the local police station to maintain a strict vigil on these houses. Apart from the police, workers of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) Cell will also monitor these cases. The instructions will be implemented through the district magistrates and municipal commissioners.

The vigil by the local authorities should be kept to ensure that there is no social boycott. The local administration, while calling these households, should enquire about the same.

The issue of availability of essential commodities for these households needs to be handled locally by the district administration.

Bagchi also said that the cases referred by any source— 104 Helpline, IDSP Cell etc will be covered as long as they have been directed by competent authorities for home quarantine. The district magistrates may apply these guidelines to the people returning from other states, as per local requirements, he pointed out.
