Bhubaneswar: A total of 78233 persons, residing in other states and different parts of the world, have returned to Odisha since February following the coronavirus outbreak.
Informing this to the media here on Wednesday, chief spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi said 11,084 of the total returnees belong to Ganjam district. As many as 6442 returned to Balasore, 4448 to Kalahandi and 4306 to Phulbani district.
Keeping in view the health condition of these persons the sarpanchas of Gram Panchayats (GPs), Panchayat Samitis and the district authorities have been asked to motivate these people to undergo home-quarantine voluntarily for 14 days, Bagchi added.
He, however, said that it will be wrong to assume that none of them has the symptoms of coronavirus.
