Cuttack: In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the Cuttack district administration on Thursday said that efforts are on to increase the beds in the isolation ward of the SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Talking to the media here, Cuttack collector Bhabani Shankar Chaini said that while 700 beds have been arranged in the SCB isolation ward, efforts are on to increase the bed strength to 1000. “Considering the fact that more and more people from the neighbouring states and abroad have arrived in Odisha and there is a possibility that some might have the symptoms of coronavirus. Special arrangements have to be made to admit them to the isolation ward. The district administration has a meeting in this regard with the SCB authorities,” he pointed out.
He further said that arrangements will be made to open a special isolation ward in the Nursing College. “Besides, the private nursing homes have agreed to provide 40 per cent beds for the COVID-19 patients,” the collector added.
