Bhubaneswar: With the Odisha government declaring the coronavirus outbreak as a state disaster, Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi on Friday said that permissions given for public congregations, meetings and processions have been cancelled.
The Commissionerate Police will strictly implement the Odisha COVID-19 Regulations, 2020, approved by the Odisha Cabinet, he said.
“Police officers have been directed to implement the measures and cinema halls, gyms, and swimming pools will be closed till March 31,” Sarangi said.
Similarly, no permission will be given for meetings and seminars. There will be a ban on such gatherings till further orders, he said.
The Police Commissioner advised people to stay indoors and spend time watching TV and reading books during the period.
If a police personnel is affected by the disease, she/he should be immediately sent to hospital for treatment without waiting for sanctions of leave, he added.
