Bhadrak: Close on the heels of Ganjam district, the Bhadrak district administration on Thursday banned spitting in public places. In an order, Bhadrak Collector Gyana Das stated that spitting in public places is prohibited in the district. Violators will be levied a fine of up to Rs 500, he said. The order comes into immediate effect.
The money collected from penalty will be deposited in the newly-created fund, the order mentioned. The administration has taken the decision to contain the spread of COVID-19 and protect public health.
Earlier, the the Ganjam district administration prohibited spitting in public places and imposed a fine of Rs 500 on persons violating the ban.
