COVID-19 Claims One More Journalist In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Another Odisha journalist, Pradeep Ghiwala, succumbed to COVID-19 at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Pradeep was a reporter with news web channel ‘Bada Khabar’ in Angul.

According to sources, Pradeep had taken the first dose of a COVID vaccine on June 1. He came down with a fever on June 2 and tested COVID positive on June 8.

Pradeep was admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Angul. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar in critical condition.

He was on ventilator support and succumbed to the virus at 2 pm on Sunday.

Pradeep had earlier worked for the vernacular dailies ‘Dharitri’ and ‘Prameya’.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter.

Notably, 51 journalists of Odisha have died of COVID so far. Of them, 12 succumbed in the first wave and 39 in the second wave.
