Bhubaneswar: Bali Jatra on Kuakhai riverbank, on the outskirts of the Odisha capital, has been cancelled in view of the COVID-19 situation, informed Twin City Police Commissionerate on Monday.
A decision in this regard was taken to ensure the safety of the public after a discussion with the members of Bhubaneswar Bali Jatra Mahotsav Committee.
Earlier, the Cuttack district administration had decided not to hold the historical Bali Jatra this year amid the pandemic.
Bhubaneswar attempted to recreate the festive fervour of the famous annual fair of Cuttack in its own backyard in 2017 and has been holding the event since then.
