Geneva: The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Tuesday recorded 1,06,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases from across the world. This is the highest single-day count so far since the outbreak began, the agency confirmed.
Since the countries have fastened their testing process, the new figures show that the pandemic has not reached its peak yet.
“We still have a long way to go in this pandemic. We’re very concerned about the rising numbers of cases in low and middle-income countries,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told the media.
While the world is nearing a tragic milestone of five million cases, the affected tally is rising in countries with low-income, the health body warned.
More than 3,18,935 people have succumbed to the deadly virus across the world so far, WHO reported.
