Bhubaneswar: The State government has appealed to the people to refrain from ill-treating or attacking the returnees from outside Odisha after such sporadic incidents were reported from certain places.
Government spokesman Subrota Bagchi in the evening briefing said not all the returnees were affected by the coronavirus. Besides, the Government has taken adequate measures to extend treatment to the affected people while protecting those not affected by the virus.
As a precautionary measure, all the returnees are stamped and kept in either home quarantine or the centres opened at the 6,798 panchayats.
Bagchi said total 35,540 persons have returned to Odisha till date. They included 7,451 returnees today.
Jajpur district tops the State in the list of corona positive cases with 55 persons followed by Khurda with 47 and Balasore with 25 cases. While 31 persons have recovered in Khurda and five in Balasore, one person has been sent home after treatment.
