Pune: Bootleggers are having a field day in the city with desperate tipplers seeking them out. Not surprisingly, they have hiked the rates up to 300-500 per cent, said an Indian Express report.
Wadarwadi in Shivajinagar, Vishrantwadi, Yerwada and Hadapsar are some of the tipplers-bootleggers’ favourite haunts.
The closure of liquor shops on March 20 came as quite a setback to tipplers and turned into shock when it was extended till April 14.
Those who cannot afford the black market prices have turned to drinking ‘hooch’ out of desperation, which too, now costs Rs 100 a pouch as against Rs 30 per pouch.
