COVID-19: Fake News Arrest In Rourkela

Rourkela: Police have arrested a person for posting fake news on the death of a doctor here on social media.

A Twitter handle, Apna Rourkela, had posted that Dr HA Khan, a doctor working at Shanti Memorial COVID Hospital at Uditnagar in Rourkela, had passed away.

However, the Rourkela SP refuted the news and said the doctor was alive. Taking to his official Twitter handle, the SP posted that Dr Khan, “a reputed & committed doctor”, still working at Shanti Memorial COVID Hospital. Uditnagar PS team arrested the accused and registered a criminal case, he added.

Police didn’t disclose the identity of the accused.
