Bhubaneswar: Retired doctor of Rourkela S Suleiman, who had tested positive for COVID-19 through RT-PCR test at IGH, Rourkela after taking two doses of Covishield, has been officially confirmed to be negative for the disease.
Principal secretary, Health and Family Welfare Pradipta Mohapatra on Sunday stated that the repeat RT-PCR test of 71-year-old Dr Suleiman was conducted at the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The test report has confirmed the doctor to be negative. His antibody test at RMRC showed very high antibody presence. The positive result at IGH may have been due to contamination, Mohapatra said.
Dr Suleiman had taken the two doses of vaccine against COVID-19 three weeks ago. After his test at IGH later showed him positive for the disease, the vaccine came under question.
