New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday announced Rs 50 lakh medical insurance cover for doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, sanitation workers, and paramedics, who are serving the nation by risking their lives while treating COVID-19 cases.
The government is working overtime to provide assistance to the needy especially the poor and downtrodden during this crucial time.
“We have come with a package for migrant workers, urban and rural poor, women and disadvantaged,” said the FM.
The FM also announced an assistance of Rs 1,000 for senior citizens, widows and Divyang people that can be claimed in two installments over the next three months.
The 20 crore woman Jan Dhan account holders will be given an ex-gratia of Rs 500 per month for the next three months.
The Self Help Groups (SHGs) can now avail collateral-free loans up to Rs 20 lakh. This scheme will benefit 63 lakh SHGs and 7 crore households.
