Lucknow: The COVID-19 helpline number in Uttar Pradesh has been receiving bizarre requests from the people demanding samosa, gutka, pizza and paan among other items.

The helpline numbers 112, and 1076 in-service for providing essential services to the people during the lockdown is being misused by the people, officials managing the calls complained.

According to reports, many demands are not urgent. Recently, a man asked the officials to deliver hot samosas (with chutney). The man was asked to clean out a drain as a punishment for the prank.

In Rampur district, while some demanded pizza on the helpline number, a few also made a query for liquor delivery, the Hindustan Times reported.

Even children are requesting the officials to deliver ice-cream, chips, and pizza.

Police are also taking strong actions against people making prank calls during this tough time.
