New Delhi: The number of COVID-19 cases is increasing at a rapid pace in the country. The affected tally rose to 1,98,706 with 8,171 more COVID-19 cases being detected, according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data till 8 am on Tuesday.
The death toll has gone up to 5,598 with the virus claiming 204 more lives in the last 24 hours, the third highest single-day count so far.
There are around 97,581 active cases in the country, while 95,527 people have been cured and 1 migrated.
Maharashtra continued to be the worst-affected state with 70,013 cases and 2362 fatalities while Tamil Nadu’s COVID-19 tally has jumped to 23,495 on Monday.
