New Delhi: India registered its highest single-day spike of 29,429 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s tally to 9,36,181 on Wednesday.
The fatalities surged to 24,309 with 582 more succumbing to the infection across the country in the same period, the Union Health Ministry said.
On a positive note, the number of recovered cases (5,92,032) surpassed active cases by 2,72,192.
The recovery rate improved to 63.24 per cent as the country witnessed a steady improvement in terms of COVID-19 recovery cases. The rate of testing samples remained 2.6 per cent while the mortality rate is 2.63 per cent. The number of testing labs has increased to 1223 on Tuesday.
The Indian Council Of Medical Research (ICMR) said 1,24,12,664 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far in the country, including 3,20,161 on Tuesday.
