COVID-19: India Reports Less Than 1 Lakh Cases First Time In Over 2 Months

New Delhi: India reported 86,498 new COVID-19 infections in 24 hours on Tuesday. The count of less than one lakh cases was recorded for the first time in 66 days, according to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry.

This is also the lowest single-day count since April 2 when the country logged 89,129 fresh cases.

A total of 2,123 people succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours.

India had reported 1,00,636 cases on Monday, the lowest spike since April 6.

The overall tally now stands at 2,89,96,554 with 13,03,702 active cases and 3,51,309 casualties so far.

After fighting a second wave for weeks, fresh COVID cases came down below the three lakh-mark first time on May 17 after touching a record high of 4,14,188 on May 7.

As per the Health Ministry, as many as 1,82,282 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge tally to 2,73,41,462.
