New Delhi: India reported 29,398 fresh COVID-19 cases and 414 deaths overnight to take the country’s overall tally to 97,96,770 on Friday. The toll touched 1,42,186, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It’s the second instance in the last three days that India recorded a count below 30,000.
According to the ministry, 92,90,834 have recovered and 3,63,749 are active cases.
The recovery rate is at 94.84 per cent, while the fatality rate stands at 1.45 per cent. A total of 9,22,959 tests were conducted on Thursday, taking the total test count to 15,07,59,726.
However, Maharashtra continued to be the most affected state with 18,64,348 cases so far. More than 72 per cent of the daily new cases were reported from 10 states and UT — Maharashtra, Kerala, West Bengal, Delhi, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka.
