COVID-19: Know How This Odisha Girl Is Trying To Keep Her Village Safe

Rourkela: Amid the COVID-19 crisis, Chandamani Sandil, a resident of Ergeda village in Sundargarh district, is doing a commendable job by spreading awareness about the deadly virus among the less-privileged tribal people.

Besides educating them about the novel coronavirus, she is also requesting the suspected carriers to stay in home quarantine for 14 days, media reports said.

Chandamani is trying to locate all migrant workers, returning to the village from other states in view of the lockdown, and sending them for health check-ups.

“It’s not just my job, it’s everyone’s responsibility. The government guidelines must be followed so that we can prevent the virus from spreading in our village and affecting other people.” Chandamani said.

When a young couple, who had recently returned from Chennai, didn’t pay heed to Chandamani’s advice to stay in quarantine for 14 days, she called a medical team and sent them to an isolation centre.

She belongs to a family of farmers and is highly educated.
