COVID-19: Lifeline Udan Delivers 684 Tonnes Of Essential & Medical Cargo

New Delhi: The Ministry of Civil Aviation has been operating ‘Lifeline Udan’ flights to transport essential medical cargo to remote parts of the country as India battles the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 383 flights have been operated till date by Air India, Alliance Air, IAF and private carriers, with cargo transported being 684 tonnes, according to a PIB release.

Aerial distance covered by Lifeline Udan flights is over 3,76,952 km.

Helicopter services, including Pawan Hans Ltd, have been operating in J & K, Ladakh, Anadaman & Nicobar Islands and the North-East region.

Till Saturday, Pawan Hans carried 1.99 tonnes of cargo covering a distance of 6,885 km.

SpiceJet, Blue Dart and Indigo have been operating cargo flights – including international — on a commercial basis.
