COVID-19: Local Contact Cases In Bhubaneswar Surpass Quarantine Infections During Sept 1-14

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital reported another 351 new COVID-19 cases, which pushed the affected tally to 16591 on Monday.

According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 113 are contacts of previous patients. The remaining 238 are local contact cases. While Bhubaneswar reported two more COVID-19 deaths since Sunday, 471 more patients have recovered from the infection.

With 64 deaths and 11901 recoveries, the city now has 4613 active cases.

Bhubaneswar has seen a surge in local contact cases in September. Barring September 1 and September 5, the number of local contact cases has surpassed those having tested positive in quarantine.

Earlier speaking to media, BMC Commissioner Prem Chaudhary had said that those cases in which source of infection is not immediately known are put in the local contacts bracket.

According to available data, 3697 of total 6166 positives cases reported since September 1 fall in this bracket.
