Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar municipal Corporation (BMC) will use four vehicles under Aahaar programme for distribution of cooked food, donated by donors and NGOs, among the needy in the city amid the COVID-19 lockdown.
BMC assistant commissioner Lilan Prasad Sahu (Mob: 9938257027) has been appointed as the nodal officer to coordinate these activities at the zonal level.
Those in charge at the zones are Rabindra Kumar Bera (Mob: 9556361165), North zone; Abhimanyu Mohanty (Mob: 8249898137), South-east zone and Manoj Behera (Mob: 9439551194); South-west zone.
The civic body has asked the donors to contact them a day in advance with details of the items they are interested to donate. After an estimate of the requirement, the donor will be intimated to supply the items at the respective zones, the SOP issued by BMC said.
The zonal deputy commissioners have been asked to identify locations the homeless and person in distress to whom cooked food will be distributed.
The Anganwadi workers, ASHA and booth level officers (BLOs) will be involved in the distribution of the donated items. While distributing the cooked food or grocery items, the staff have been directed to strictly adhere to the social distancing guidelines and take the assistance of the police if needed.
