Bhubaneswar: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has suspended the final year (term- end) examinations scheduled on June 1.
Informing this to the media here, regional director, IGNOU Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar, SK Tripathy said that the examinations have been suspended in view of the extended lockdown to contain corona spread.
He said the university will apprise the students of the revised date 15 days before the commencement of the examinations.
About 7.5 lakh students across the country are eligible for the term-end examinations to be held in different zones. More than 10,000 students from Odisha under Bhubaneswar zone will appear for the exam in 37 centres of 21 districts, he added.
Speaking at a webinar (an event held on the internet which is attended exclusively by an online audience), IGNOU vice-chancellor Nageshwar Rao said that the students need to be given more time to prepare for the examinations.
Stating that the last date for submission of the assignments, form fill-up and re-admission has been extended till May 31, he said the university is preparing a modality for the students to submit their projects online and it will inform the students after it is completed.
