New Delhi: In view of the 21-day lockdown imposed by the government for containing the coronavirus outbreak, the Indian Railways on Tuesday suspended all passenger services including suburban trains till April 14.
However, freight trains will be operational to carry essential commodities across the county.
According to reports, the passengers, who have booked tickets till June 21, will be getting 100 per cent refund for all cancelled trains in this period.
People, who couldn’t avail train journeys because the timings have been extended, could put up at the waiting rooms of the stations, stated the railways.
All rail museums, heritage galleries and heritage parks will also remain closed till April 15 as a preventive measure to contain the killer virus.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Railway Board directed its production units to help in manufacturing items like hospital beds, medical trolleys, and IV stands.
