Amethi/UP: A strange case of corona infection has come to light in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh. Nine corona positive cases were reported halting a marriage in Amethi, on Friday evening.
A groom had set out on his wedding procession when his test report came out positive causing a stir in the local area.
Of the nine cases, three are from Barsandh, including the groom, but were Delhi returnees. The groom’s sample was collected on June 16 for examination and he tested positive on Friday evening.
On receiving information about the incident, the administration became vigilant and stopped the procession halfway. They were stopped by the medical team near the railway crossing under the Kamaroli police station. Ten people, including his father, were rushed to the Gauriganj District Hospital, informed Amethi CMO Rajesh Mohan Srivastava.
Reportedly, Uttar Pradesh registered a total of 500 patients who succumbed to COVID-19 with 19 new fatalities on Friday.
The state registered the highest number of contractions in the last 24 hours with 817 new cases were reported with the toll of positive cases reaching 16,594 in the state. There are 6,092 active cases in the state while 9,995 people have recovered and returned to their homes, informed Amit Mohan Prasad, Principal Secretary, Medical, Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of U.P
