COVID-19: Monuments, Museums Under ASI To Remain Closed

New Delhi: The Ministry of Culture has on Sunday extended the closure of Centrally protected monuments/sites and museums under Archaeological Survey of India till June 15 in view of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

The announcement is in continuation of the May 12 order.
Odisha has 80 Centrally protected monuments and three museums at Ratnagiri, Lalitgiri and Konark that come under the purview of ASI. The monuments include the Shree Jagannath Temple at Puri, Lingaraj temple at Bhubaneswar and Sun Temple at Konark.

However, the Srimandir and Lingaraj temples are managed by trusts and ASI is in talks with state government to see if the order can be implemented at these two temples.
