Bhubaneswar: With the people in the age group of 45 and 59 years set to be administered COVID-19 vaccine from April 1, the state government has targeted to vaccinate at least two lakh people daily.
In a letter to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, additional chief secretary, Health and Family Welfare department PK Mohapatra on Friday said the government targets to accelerate the vaccination drive to cover two lakh persons daily. But the government was unable to plan vaccination due to insufficient and erratic vaccine supply, the letter said.
Stating that some states are achieving three lakh vaccinations daily due to the stocks at their disposal, the letter said there should not be any discrimination in supply of vaccines.
Mohapatra requested the Centre to supply adequate quantity of vaccines for 15 days in advance to Odisha so that it can meet the target.
