Bhubaneswar: The tally of COVID-19 positive cases in Odisha went up to 40,717 on Thursday with the highest single-day spike of 1,699 cases in the last 24 hours.
Out of new cases reported from 29 districts, 1073 are from quarantine centres and 626 are local contact cases.
Ganjam led the tally with 268 cases, followed by Khurda (220), Sundargarh (178), Cuttack (105), Sambalpur (101), Bargarh (81), Kandhamal (74), Malkangiri (72), Puri (67), Bhadrak (66), Gajapati (59), Keonjhar (56), 41 each in Koraput and Jajpur, Kalahandi (30), 27 each in Kendrapada and Dhenkanal, Nayagarh (25), Mayurbhanj (24), Balangir (21), Rayagada (19), 17 each in Angul and Balasore, 16 each in Jagatsinghpur and Nabarangpur, 10 each in Jharsuguda and Sonepur, Boudh (8), and Nuapada (3).
With 235 deaths and 25,737 recoveries, Odisha now has 14700 active cases.
