COVID-19: Oxygen Express From Odisha Reaches Telangana, Another Leaves For Delhi

Bhubaneswar: The Oxygen Express, loaded with Liquefied Medical Oxygen, reached Secunderabad in Telangana on Sunday afternoon.

The 5 trucks of oxygen which were dispatched from Odisha’s Angul on April 28, started on their return journey to Secunderabad on Saturday and reached Sanathnagar New Goods Complex today.

About 124.26 tonnes of liquid oxygen was delivered to the southern state which is also grappling with rising COVID-19 cases.

OxygenExpress from Angul, Odisha has reached Secunderabad, Telangana carrying oxygen to the State for COVID-19 patients. Indian Railways is continuously helping in the treatment of patients by transporting oxygen & ensuring its availability, stated a tweet by the Railways Minister Piyush Goyal.

Another Oxygen Express, carrying 30.86 MT of oxygen to Delhi left Angul destination on the day.

Meanwhile, amidst the deepening crisis over oxygen supply in the country, Odisha with the help of Indian Railways has been delivering oxygen to eight needy states.

A total of 214 tankers carrying 3964.542 metric tonnes (MT) of medical oxygen has been sent from Odisha to eight states in the last 10 days, said Odisha Police.

While 26 tanks were dispatched from Angul with 425.02 MT, 46 tanks were sent from Dhenkanal with 729.25 MT, 60 from Jajpur with 1239.57 MT and 82 from Rourkela with 1570.702 MT.

Further, 64 tankers with 1347.55 MT of oxygen were sent to Andhra Pradesh and 60 tankers with 1012.489 MT of oxygen were sent to Telangana. Tamil Nadu received 05 tanker filled with 98.54 MT of medical oxygen.

Similarly, Haryana received 22 tankers filled with 454.592 MT of oxygen. 12 tankers with 195.76 MT of oxygen were sent to Maharashtra, while 11 tankers with 168.101 MT of oxygen have left for Chhattisgarh.

Another 17 tanks carried 309.99 MT oxygen to Uttar Pradesh and 23 tanks with 377.52 MT of oxygen were sent to Madhya Pradesh.

It may be mentioned here that a Special Cell was formed under ADG (L&O) Y K Jethwa as the Nodal Officer on the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The state also set up a dedicated corridor to ensure unhindered and safe supply of the life saving gas to other states.
