Michael Levitt, a biophysicist who won the Nobel Laureate for Chemistry in 2013, is optimistic about the coronavirus pandemic ending soon.
His theory is based on the rate of recoveries, reduction in new cases and decrease in deaths day by day in China since January.
“Numbers are still noisy, but there are clear signs of slow growth. . . . What we need is to control the panic,” Levitt said in an interview to the Los Angeles Times.
Levitt had previously predicted that China would recover faster than other countries. He had also predicted an approximate number of cases in China to be 80,000 with 3,250 deaths. China’s current numbers are very close to his prediction.
He blamed the anti-vaccination movement for the huge numbers in Italy.
He also urged people to follow social distancing measures properly.
