Berhampur: The number of COVID-19 positive cases in a juvenile detention centre here has gone up to 64 with 14 inmates testing positive for the disease.
The juvenile detention centre located on Jarada Bangala road in Berhampur first reported 45 positive cases on August 1. Later, five more were found to be infected with the coronavirus.
Earlier, swab samples of 75 inmates were sent for tests after one of them complained of fever and cough.
The Berhampur Municipal Corporation has issued a statement about the detection of the fresh cases in the centre though there is no official confirmation from the authorities of the juvenile centre.
According to sources, the inmates of the juvenile detention centre are being treated on the premises by a special team of doctors.
