Bhubaneswar: With the economic activities severely impacted by the COVID-19 and subsequent shutdown, the GST collection in the state has come down by 7.86 per cent in June, 2020 compared to the same month last year.
According to official sources, the June collection of GST this year was Rs 2,693.75 crore against 2,923.47 crore in the year-ago month.
The gross GST collection in April-June of the current fiscal was Rs 5,192.30 crore against Rs 8,019.44 crore of the same quarter in the last fiscal, registering a fall by 35.25 per cent, the sources said. The Odisha GST (OGST) revenue in June was Rs 759.17 crore against Rs 804.49 crore in the same month last year.
The lockdown has severely affected the economic activities in the state during the first quarter of 2020-21 fiscal, which led to a fall in the collection, Commercial Tax and GST Commissioner SK Lohani said.
