Jagatsinghpur: The district administration on Thursday imposed a ban on Baliyatra at different places including Paradip this year in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In an official order, district collector Saroj Kumar Mishra said since a large number of visitors turn up for the Baliyatra on Kartika Purnima, the festival will not be allowed at Paradip, Chelitola Baliyatra at Gopiakuda and in Tirtol. The festival will not be allowed to be celebrated in other parts of the district also.
Any violation of the collector’s notice will invite penal provision under Disaster Management Act 2005 and other relevant laws, the order stated.
