COVID-19 Resurgence: Another Odisha District Sets Stringent Norms

Malkangiri: After Jharsuguda, the Malkangiri district administration has tightened its noose on the violators of COVID-19 protocol. Malkangiri district administration issued a slew of fresh guidelines. failure to follow which would invite fines.

Informing about the new rules to check the spread of COVID-19, District Collector Yeddula Vijay said strict action will be taken against people found violating the guidelines under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Epidemics Act, 1897.

While shop owners have been strictly advised to wear mask and barricade their shops to ensure social distancing, people found violating the mask-wearing norm will be fined between Rs 500 and Rs 1000, he added.

Keeping hand wash and sanitiser outside the shops has been made mandatory. Shopkeepers will be fined for customers found violating the COVID-19 norms.

Moreover, rules have been strictly imposed for hotels, restaurants or eateries as well. Those facilities found overcrowded and not following the norms will be sealed.

Similarly, all types of cultural gatherings have been totally banned in the district, said the Collector and sought people’s cooperation to make it a success.
