Cuttack: In view of an upsurge in COVID-19 cases in some states, the Cuttack administration has clamped Section-144 of CrPC at Padma Vana Peetha in Nemala, the birthplace of Mahapurusha Achyutananda, in the district.
According to official sources, the decision was taken to prevent any kind of congregation on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the 16th-century saint on Wednesday.
The prohibitory orders will remain in place till six in the evening.
The administration, however, has allowed a minimum number of servitors to hold a function in strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
Public gatherings are completely banned, the order stated.
