Mumbai: Five more people, including two Tablighi Jamaat returnees, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Mumbai’s Dharavi area, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said on Friday.
The new patients also include two women, one aged 29 and the other 31.
A BMC official said, “Two persons who figure in the list of people who returned from Markaz (Tablighi Jamaat’s event at its headquarters in Nizamuddin, Delhi) were also found positive.”
In order to prevent the spread of infection, BMC officials have banned all unlicensed vegetable and fruit markets at Dharavi. Civic officials have laos launched regular sanitization in the slum-dominated area.
On Thursday, the death of a 70-year-old woman at Dharavi had taken the death toll in the area to three.
